Another schedule change for the weekend

(9:00 p.m. on April 30) I just received another email notifying me of additional changes to Friday's schedule.

We will play the Dillon team at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night at THA. We will only play one game now at THA on Friday night.

We will play our second game on Saturday afternoon against the SC Runners at 3:30 p.m. at THA.

If we are in 2nd or 3rd place we would then have to play again on Saturday night at 9:45 p.m. at THA.

The championship game would be held on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at Hartsville Highschool.

Sorry for the confusion and I will continue to update you.

Slight Schedule Change

Phyllis Thompson emailed me last night to tell me that our second game will be approximately 30 to 45 minutes later than previously posted. They are projecting our second game to tip off at 9:45 p.m.

Tournament Schedule for May 1-3

Friday - May 1, 2009 Game 1 at 7:15 p.m. at Thomas Hart Academy. Come to Thomas Hart Academy by 6:45 p.m. to warm up. We will play the Dillon Intimidators #1.

Game 2 will be at 8:45 at Thomas Hart Academy. We will play the SC Runners.

Our Friday night record will dictate what time we play on Saturday.

Wear black shorts and black undershirt if possible.

Scrimmage Wednesday, April 29 at 6:00 p.m.

We have been invited back to Thomas Hart Academy to scrimmage at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night. Please come early to warm up. I will provide jerseys. We will play 3- 20 minute halves.

Parents you are invited!

I will post the tournament schedule later in the week when it is released. I have been assured that it is only a two day tournament and there will be no games on Sunday.

Schedule Update for Week of April 27

Our next practice will be Monday, April 27 at 6:00 p.m. at the YMCA.

We will attend a scrimmage on Wednesday, April 29 at 6:00 p.m. at Thomas Hart Academy. Please be on time. This scrimmage will consist of at least 3 20 minute halves.

The tournament in Hartsville begins next Friday and I will post updates when the schedule is announced. We will again wear black shorts. Wear a black undershirt if possible.

Next Tournament - Hartsville (May 1 & 2)

Our next tournament will be in Hartsville on May 1 & 2. There will be games at the Hartsville YMCA and Hartsville Highschool. There may also be one additional site. I do not yet have game times or a schedule but will post the games here as soon as the details are available.

Practice Cancelled for Thursday, April 16

Due to spring break and the low turnout we had on Monday we will not practice on Thursday. Next Practice will be Monday, April 20 at 6:00 p.m. at the YMCA.

Hartsville Boys 14U AAU win Magic City Hoop Jam

The Hartsville Boys 14U AAU team based at the Hartsville YMCA won the Magic City Hoop Jam on Sunday, April 5, 2009 to clinch their first tournament championship of the season.

It was a hard fought game with J-Boy Shaw, Banks Ward and Treyvon Sellers clinching the victory in the last minute at the foul line. There was strong inside play Devontae Washington and Kashawn Byrd. Dominick Robinson stood out on defense.

Jalen "J-Boy" Shaw iced the game at the line inside the last two minutes and played solid defense.



Banks Ward played solid press defense.



We struggled at the line but made them when they counted at the end.



Bryson Caldwell played solid at the end of the first half. Bryson played the middle of the 2-3 zone.

Hartsville Wins!

The Hartsville 14U team advanced to the Championship game this morning (Saturday) morning with a win over Florence 14U. The score is shown to the left of this post, 53-38.

The Championship game will be Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Please be at the gym by 10:00 a.m.

Saturday's Schedule (April 4, 2009)

Report to the YMCA on Saturday morning at 6:45 a.m.

Bus will leave at 7:00 a.m.

We will play at 8:00 a.m. at South Florence Highschool. I believe that is the only game that we will play on Saturday.

Bring enough money to eat twice in case something changes.

Let me know on Friday night if you will be riding on Saturday morning with a family member.

Report to the YMCA at 4:45

Bus leaves at 5:00 p.m. and will take everyone to South Florence Highschool.

If you are riding directly with a parent or family member please let me know. My cell phone is 307-7153.

Our game will be at 9:45 p.m. at Southside Middle School.

Bring enough money to eat supper.

I will drive directly to Southside Middle School and arrive at 8:45.

***VERY IMPORTANT*** You must be up to date with your payment of fees. The 2nd installment was due today of $65 for Y members and $93 for non-members. The memorandum that I gave you earlier in the week from Phyllis Thompson says that you will not be allowed to go on this trip and participate in the tournament unless your fees are up-to-date. If you have not yet paid please come to the Y early on Friday and get everything straight at the front desk.

The Florence Tournament schedule this weekend can be viewed at http://www.fibasc.com/. Go to the Tournament Schedule link at the top of the home page and you can open an excel spreadsheet with all of the information.

It looks as though we will play our first game on Friday night at 9:45 p.m. at Southside Middle School located at 200 Howe Springs Road, Florence. We will play the Florence International 15U team. This will be a tough game against older players.

The second game appears to be at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning at South Florence Highschool located at 3200 South Irby Street, Florence. This game will be against the Florence Patriots which is a 14U team.

If we make it to the championship game it would be at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday at South Florence Highschool.

I will post the bus schedule for you tonight when I get home around 9:00 p.m.

Bring enough money on Friday night to get something to eat and bring enough money on Saturday to eat at least twice because the schedule may change.

I would like to thank the group from Thomas Hart Academy for inviting us to use their gym, for competing against us and helping us get ready for this weekend.

AAU parents - please thank them if you see them. This group also paid for us to have a referee for the game.

Practice - Thursday, April 2 at 5:30 at Y

We will practice for 1 hour on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the YMCA.

I will have tournament instructions for you at practice for this weekend's competition.

Raffle Ticket Sales

Each player is being asked to sell 15 tickets. Tickets are $1 each. The drawing is on Friday, April 17. The proceeds go toward all 5 AAU teams and helps to keep the cost of the program down for the players.

What to do: Sell the tickets. Get the purchaser to fill out the stub. Keep the stub and turn them in to me with the money.

You must either turn in the money or the unused tickets to me. Try to sell them if you can because it is important to the YMCA for this to be successful.

Scrimmage Wednesday April 1 at 6:00

We will scrimmage a local team (put together by my law partner) in the gym at Thomas Hart Academy at 6:00 p.m. I will try to be there ahead of time so that you can warm up. Please be on time.

Wear black shorts. I will provide the game jersey. We will play a simulated game and may practice some after the game if time permits.

I would estimate that we would finish no sooner than 7:30 p.m. for those picking you up.

Tell your parents that we will also practice tomorrow at the YMCA from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
